Mid Year 2012 Malaysia Durian Supply

2013... I don't want to do supply updates after last year.  I'm not in touch with durian supplies to be able to provide any up to date info.

17 May 2012 Update:
Currently, in the market, most durians are Cheng Nee (Thai).

From the brief information I found out, durians will start coming across the Causeway, into Singapore from next week (perhaps mid week, around 23/24 May 2012).

As per the usual durian season, it usually starts with sweet variant of durians, such as D13, Red Prawns, D18, Kang Hai, etc.  D101 should start coming in about 2-3 weeks later.  We should be expecting Mao San Wang by mid June 2012.

Keep a look out.  Will update this post (edit function) as and when I get more info.

25 May 2012 Update :
From my understanding, there are a lot of Thai durians available still.  Mostly Cheng Nee, some Ganja and some Pamani.

Malaysia durian varieties D13 and D101 have started awhile back but since cost is very high, only a few durian shops are selling it.

D101 is usually rather large, weighing anything above 2kg (avg nearly 3kg).  The color of the shell/thorns are darker green and the thorns are long and very sharp.  D13 is usually smaller in shape, about 1-1.5kg in weight and the color of the shell/thorns is usually lighter shades of green (nearer to yellowish green).

This year's mid season is really late.  Usually, by this time (late May), we should be seeing more and more durians, but this year, it is only starting.  However, there should be more Malaysia durians starting to stream in from this few days on.
