Durian Season 2016

Malaysia durian season just started recently.  The first lot of durian that comes in are usually Kampung durian and Gang Hai durian variant.  There are also a range of Thailand durians available.

I'll go explore what's the current variant (just to confirm it's Gang Hai) and when are the other durians coming out. Will update once I have a little info.

A quick visit to Geylang durian stall. Tried 1 Gang Hai, 1 D2 and 2 Mao Shan Wang. Quality is quite nice.

As the season just started, price is a little steep but still reasonably affordable. Gang Hai is nice since the start of the season usually starts with this durian. Do has a little kampong durian taste thus nicer. MSW needless to say beats the other 2.

  1. may I know how do you identify the durians, as that stall seems to just mix up all the durians together and sell by per piece.

  2. There are too many variants, to be able to identify them all. There are even some MSW that I couldn't recognise, as the 'star' lines are not definitely signs (some other durians have similar features too). To be able to tell apart, need to be at the stalls regularly and learn to identify the differences.
